NEW circulation figures for the national press

September newspaper circulation figures are out now. As anticipated the nationals continued their downward trend. But the Sun, Daily Record, Independent on Sunday, Sunday Express and News of World all bucked the trend.
In the quality daily sector the Daily Telegraph still remains the highest seller with 814,000 copies despite a -0.6% fall. On Sunday’s the Sunday Times is the comfortable market leader with 1,164,831 copies but also fell -2.2%.
Within the Mid-Market the Daily Mail still has a massive 2million plus circulation but fell just -0.3%. The Daily Express again dropped somewhat to 730,234 (-0.5%). The pattern is similar on sunday, although the Sunday Express managed a slight circulation increase of 0.2% to 646,861 copies.
In the popular market there was success for publisher News International with the News of the World up 0.5% to 3,104,205 and the Sun up 0.2% to 3,128,407. The Daily Record and Daily Star also saw slight increases.
